Full-leather laced-in boards binding in Hewit's Pentland Goat. Blind and gold tooling. Inlays of end grain oak veneer over gilded paper. Onlays of goatskin pressed with laser-cut end grain-patterned plates and sanded. Onlays of goatskin stamped through gold leaf. Edge to edge Pentland Goat doublures. Hark! Paper fly leaves. Sewn silk endbands.

The binding's design celebrates the art of wood engraving and the craft's material, end grain wood. The gilded patterns of the stamped leather onlays are composed of close details from Simon Brett's engravings.
